Goodness gracious... where in the world have I been? We are going on 6 months of crazy in 2020. Covid, masks, politics, schools being closed, businesses being closed, churches being online, riots, protests, and now wildfires and arson happening in our beautiful state of Oregon. At one point Ryan said, look up real estate in South Dakota... only half joking. Don't worry, we are not going anywhere... yet. ha! We love where we live and are weathering all of the storms we have had roll through our life. We have definitely had our ups and downs through homeschooling, managing disappointments, so many things being cancelled, and moving forward with our dreams and goals regardless of circumstances.
How many times have you started something only to get derailed by something outside of yourself? I'm raising my hand too. The actual FACT is that nothing can derail us but ourself. Did you know you have that much power? You are the only thinker in your mind, and you have control over your thoughts. Here is what has been helping me manage my mindset during all of this...
First, 100% honesty.. I have gone through ALL the emotions... Fear, Anger, Sadness, Creativity, and Joy. We all have these emotions, but becoming aware of them us the key... when we are feeling, for example, angry... How can we shift out of it?
I start every morning off with good nutrition and moving my body! I LOVE our chocolate shakes and I have mine with coffee every morning after I wake up, then I head to my garage to jog and lift weights.
I practice Gratitude EVERY DAY! You can do this in list form, or in a journaling format. I write down things I am happy for NOW, and things that I am grateful for in the future (goals and dreams). THIS IS EXTREMELY important. We have to stay focused on our goals and what we are working towards. Otherwise we get stuck in the rut of today, and making it through the current circumstance. If you do not have a clear picture of your compelling future, you have nothing pulling you forward.
I do a short amount of reading in a book about mindset (personal development). I do this with my accountability buddy Ryan! This takes us less than 5 minutes and we can do it no matter what.
I speak nicely to myself. There is no reason to beat yourself up for something that happened, a mistake you made, that you fell off the wagon... Would you speak to anyone else like that? Work on LOVING yourself every day, no matter what and you will see your life change!
Keep the faith and believe. I find so much peace in knowing there is purpose in the pain. We may not see it now, but we will eventually. Keep the faith friends.
No matter what... do not give up. Giving up is the only way to fail. Stay with it, keep your goals in the forefront of your mind, and keep going.
