Yesterday I was so sick... like sicker than I have been in a LOOONG time! I woke up at 5am and was sick on and off all day and night... I couldn't eat a thing! It was bad. It's the moments like these when I am so thankful for my family. I realized real quick that I partnered with the right guy. He checked on me, took care of the kids, cleaned the house, and went to the grocery store! What a guy huh!? Ryan Hall is the man! My kids were also so good and kept coming in to give me love!
This morning I woke up and Rory padded into my room. The mornings are always our special time together. We sat in my chair and just had time to chat with each other. We talked about the day before and he wanted to see if I was feeling better. He also told me how he speaks cat and squirrel. He is seriously the funniest and sweetest little guy.
Then I had the thought... When was the last time I actually sat with either of my kids and just listened to what they had to say? The answer: not often enough. I think parenting is a thing where you have to constantly do self checks. We are usually not 100% in all areas, but in some we are. My kids are taken cared of completely! Bathed, fed, laundered, they have toys, so much love and snuggles, but its the quality time spent where I sometimes fail. I could give you all of the excuses as to why. I'm working from home, I have so many chores to do, I have to work at the gym...blablabla. It's all excuses. Anything that is important to us, we will find time for! My kids are important to me, so that is my next area for improvement. Spend quality time with them everyday, even if it is just 20-30 minutes, I know it would mean the world to them.
Here are some fun and easy things I like to do with my kids...
1. Park date where I actually play too! Not just sit on the bench on my phone.
2. puzzles!
3. play a board game
4. Bake... they love this too!
5. Color or craft
6. activity books: Costco has great ones
7. go exploring outside
8. swimming or play in the sprinkler
9. Let them choose a toy and you play whatever they want
10. Read their favorite books!
